Marshallese People
The Marshallese (approximately 59,000) inhabit low-lying coral atolls facing dual existential threats: legacy of 67 US nuclear tests (1946-1958) causing radiation contamination, forced relocations, and ongoing health crises; and rising seas threatening to submerge their nation. Bikini and Enewetak Atolls remain contaminated. Average elevation under 2 meters. They endure radiation legacy, rising oceans, freshwater scarcity, and climate-forced migration. Traditional navigation, weaving, and fighting for survival against man-made and natural disasters characterize their resilience.
