Icelandic People
Icelanders (approximately 370,000) inhabit one of the world's most volcanically active regions with ~130 volcanic mountains, regular eruptions, earthquakes, and geothermal activity. They endure sub-Arctic climate, harsh winters, months of darkness, extreme isolation, and volcanic hazards. Settled by Vikings in 874 CE, they developed unique adaptation to volcanic landscape through geothermal heating, saga traditions, fishing economy, and resilient culture thriving on "fire and ice."
